Dear Parents and Community Member
We are pleased to present you with the Annual Education Report (AER) which provides key information on the 2010-11 educational progress for Chapman Elementary School. The AER addresses the complex reporting information required by federal and state laws. The school’s report contains information about student assessment, Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and teacher quality. If you have any questions about the AER, please contact Mrs. Cindy Hoffman, Principal, for assistance.
The AER is available for you to review electronically by visiting the following web site http://www.gibdist.net/gibdist/schools/Chapman or you may review a copy from the main office at your child’s school.
For 2010-2011, Chapman Elementary School made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in English language arts and mathematics. While we are pleased to have reached this important goal, we are continuously working to improve. We appreciate the continued support of parents, staff and our community in this effort.
State law requires that we also report this additional information:
· Students in the Gibraltar School District are assigned to the school in their neighborhood, with bussing provided as needed.
· A copy of our core curriculum can be found at www.mde.gov. It is implemented by the district administrators, and curriculum director, with the help of subject curriculum committees, and the district school improvement team. There are no variations from the state model.
· Student achievement results on MEAP testing may be found at our school’s website, http://www.gibdist.net/gibdist/schools/Chapman. Information on nationally norm achievement tests given in the last two years can be found in the assessment data file on this site.
· Parent teacher conferences are held each fall. We have 100% participation through personal face to face contact. If such contact cannot be arranged, a phone conference is held.
I congratulate the students, staff and parents in this collaborative effort. I encourage our school “family” to continue to work together for the betterment and achievement of our children.
Sincerely,
Susan Stockton Andrade
Principal
