Retail Math RR
This course is designed to demonstrate the workings of a real business. The students will be part of a team which operates a school store for one half hour each day. They will be responsible for a variety of jobs from cashier to janitor. During the half hour while there are no customers, employees not responsible for another job must do school work from other classes. This part of the class is a graded study hall.
Basic units of study: Each student is taught the various jobs. All students must perform all jobs as assigned.
Mathematics I RR Course Syllabus
Math I RR is a yearlong course that will focus on the acquisition of concepts and vocabulary that will enable the student to progress to a level of comfort in dealing with money issues as they relate to the real world.
Basic Units of Study: money concepts, figuring pay, overtime pay, work week, pay period, basic processes as used in the real world.
Psychology RR Course Syllabus
The focus of Psychology RR is to create knowledge and awareness of Psychology as it relates to the way individuals interact in positive or negative ways in society. The course will explore body and mind, sensation and perception, learning and cognition, memory, thinking and language, development, personality, health and adjustment, and social psychology.

American History RR Course Syllabus
American History RR is a yearlong resource room class that is designed to follow the regular education class with the exception of the pace of the class. The textbook we use is the same as the regular education class. Expectations are similar with the exception that all students will be required to read aloud at least three times per week. Students will be expected to write reflectively on given topics, research aspects of history, and demonstrate understanding of history through projects, quizzes and tests. Grading will be based on daily assignments, test, quizzes and projects.
Basic Units of Study: Immigration, Native American Issues, Western, expansion, second Industrial Revolution, World War I, World War II, modern America and the cultural revolution of the 1960s.
American Government RR Course Syllabus
The focus of American Government RR is to create knowledge and awareness for the student of the development of early government to present day and show its significance at a societal and personal level.
Basic Units of Study: Early government formation, types of governments, the United States Constitution, branches of government, rights of individuals, responsibilities of citizens, and political parties—importance and formation.
Global Studies RR Course Syllabus
This course will focus on the various elements of world cultures, characteristics of civilization, world interdependence, modern nationalization, physical characteristics, developing economies, and modernization obstacles. The class will use the regular education textbook, but proceed at a pace dictated by the goals and objectives of the individual student’s IEPT.
Basic Units of Study: The global environment, the world today, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Australia, China, and Russia.
English RR Course Syllabus
English RR is a yearlong course that will focus on the acquisition of literary and composition skills. Areas of study will include specific goals from the student’s Individual Education Plan.
Basic Units of Study: Grammar; composition; style; work study skills; understanding of literary skills, and workplace writing.
Algebra I Course Syllabus
Throughout the Algebra I course, students will take a look at the basic principles used in mathematics. Some of the topics that will be covered include: properties of multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, and exponents; solving systems of equations and inequalities; and graphing lines and curves. The class will include many examples of real-life situations in order to answer the question, “When will I ever use this?” Students use skills from Algebra I everyday without realizing it. The goal is to encourage students to continue to use formulas in order to simplify real-life situations.
The grade students will receive in this class will be comprised of daily homework assignments, quizzes, and test scores. Students should expect homework on a daily basis with quizzes over the material at least once a week.
A calculator will prove to be very useful for students, but is not required. Some calculators will be available to students during class time, but they may need them to complete homework at home.
Basic Units of Study: Writing equations, properties of equations, solving equations, graphing linear equations, solving and graphing linear inequalities, polynomials, simplifying square roots, properties of square roots.
